GeForce RTX 3000 - Nvidia Ampere Benchmark Leaked
The first benchmark of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3000 graphics card leaked to the Internet. The result comes from the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark database, but the Ampere family chip was not detected correctly, so it is not clear which top model is affected (RTX 3080 or RTX 3090). What performance increase can be expected?

More and more leaks are appearing on the Internet, related to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000 GPUs, based on the 7-nanometer Ampere architecture. This time, previously reported, Titan RTX.

Nvidia's unspecified Ampere chipset scored 18257 points on the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark, over 30% more than GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition and 22% more than Titan RTX. The differences are smaller when compared to non-reference designs. We would like to remind that according to unofficial reports, the new generation of Nvidia's cards may offer performance gains of up to 40-50%. As we can assume, the test applies either to RTX 3080 with 10 GB of VRAM on board, or the 12 GB-equipped RTX 3090 (3080 Ti). 24GB of VRAM would be reserved for the new Titan RTX.

It is worth adding that the detected GPU boasts a boosted clock of only 1935 MHz (less than one would exect), while the memory operated at a somewhat dubious 6000 MHz. It doesn't make much sense, because we cannot use this to determine what is the bandwidth. By comparison, GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, which boasts a memory speed of 14 Gbps, is detected by Time Spy with a clock of 1750 MHz. This value multiplied by eight gives the previously stated bandwidth - for Ampere, no multiplier is applicable. This may indicate that the Nvidia graphics cards actually use new, not yet officially disclosed GDDR6X modules that have not been properly identified by the benchmark. According to KatCorga's Twitter, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 memory speeds can be 19 Gb/s and 21 Gb/s respectively. However, it should be borne in mind that the revealed information has not been confirmed by the company.
As even at the end of August) there would be an official announcement of Nvidia Ampere GPUs for the consumer market. The launch of the first models would take place a few weeks later. Taking into the latest leaks, Nvidia may be preparing the top-shelf RTX 3080 and 3090 models for a big opening. It may be that RTX 3070, which is not mentioned in the rumor, will appear - like RTX 2070 - in October at the earliest. Time will tell.
