CD Projekt RED announced the next instalment of The Witcher. At this point no details about the game were revealed. We only know that the title will start a "new saga". The release date and target platforms are also unknown, which means we can only wait for further information from the developers.
For the record - "The Witcher 4" is only a placehoplder. In 2020, CDPR declared that the story of Geralt of Rivia is closed, and any further games in the universe created by Andrzej Sapkowski will focus on a different hero (heroine?), so the final title of the project announced today will certainly sound different.
At the same time it was announced that the studio, instead of continuing to use its in-house technology REDengine, will switch to Unreal Engine 5 as part of a "strategic partnership" with Epic Games. However, the game itself will not be an Epic Games Store exclusive. Instead, the technology developed by CD Projekt RED will continue to be used in the development of Cyberpunk 2077.
It is worth ing here that the Polish studio has already informed that it plans to develop The Witcher. For example, in November last year Adam Kicinski mentioned that CDPR plans to develop more projects set in the universe.
