The Color of Madness is an expansion for a turn-based RPG Darkest Dungeon. DLC introduces a new type of adventure, in which the players face endless waves of enemies while trying to reach their objective, and a new faction. There are also more trinkets that weren’t seen before.
Darkest Dungeon: The Color of Madness for PC, PS4 and etc. is an expansion to popular RPG title of 2016. It isn’t a standalone DLC, meaning it requires the base version of the game. Both have been created by Red Hook studio.
The team creating Darkest Dungeon: The Color of Madness took inspiration from classic horror novels of Howard Philips Lovecraft. The story of the expansion revolves around a mysterious comet that crashes on a land of a farmer known as the old Miller. Locals who were unlucky enough to see it lost their sight. After two weeks without any with farm’s inhabitants, a group of heroes is sent to investigate what happened and what is the source of mysterious howls that come from this area.
PC, PS4 and etc.’s version of Darkest Dungeon: The Color of Madness doesn’t introduce any game breaking changes to Darkest Dungeon’s mechanics. Instead, it focuses on adding new content. DLC offers another type of adventure, in which we face unending hordes of enemies and try to reach the comet. Here, we face both old cast of Darkest Dungeon and new opponents. This mode allows us to compete with other players through online rankings by comparing how many foes we defeated before our team died.
Additionally, we can visit Nomad Wagon to exchange comet’s fragments for new kinds of trinkets with previously unseen bonuses. Lastly, with expansion comes another faction in form of old Miller and his workers, who were possessed by alien power.
