A story expansion for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, a first-person action RPG released in summer 2016 by Eidos Montreal. A Criminal Past requires the vanilla game in order to work. Mechanics-wise, the DLC doesn’t introduce any meaningful changes to the gameplay.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – A Criminal Past is a story expansion for the 2016’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution, developed both productions.
A Criminal Past is a prequel to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided so it tells a story that takes place before the events of this game. The DLC shows one of the first missions that Adam Jensen took on for Task Force 29, the Interpol spec ops anti-terror unit.
Jensen has to work undercover as an inmate in a special prison for dangerous augmented criminals. His task is to learn what happened to a Task Force 29 operative who operated in the area and with whom all was recently lost.
A Criminal Past doesn’t introduce any major changes to the mechanics of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The game is still an action RPG in which levels are designed to allow us perform the given task in numerous different ways.
While playing, the player can develop the protagonist’s abilities by enhancing augmentations. The game also rewards exploration since many valuable secrets are hidden in the virtual world.
