A hybrid of an online TPP action game and a social deduction title inspired by Among Us. Killer Inn is a multiplayer-only title and the players are separated into two groups. "The wolves" are the murderers who must hide their identity. "The lambs" are trying to track them to serve justice.
Killer Inn is a production on the border of action games and social deduction titles (a genre that gained worldwide popularity thanks to the game Among Us). It is the result of a collaboration between Square Enix and Tactic Studios team.
In Killer Inn we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).
The driving force of the game is an "investigation" aimed at uncovering the identity of the murderer (or murderers) hiding among the participants and eliminating him (or them) before he (or they) claim more victims. The matter is complicated by the fact that at first glance, these "wolves" do not stand out in any particular way against the "lambs".
The gameplay varies, depending on who we embody. As wolves, we must cleverly hide among the other players, trying not to reveal our true identity. To achieve this, we need to eliminate the participants of the game who are stepping on our heels, and it is necessary to do this in such a way as not to be caught red-handed.
The lambs must discover the identity of the murderers in advance. They can accomplish this by gathering clues, such as the killers' footprints or the shells they left behind, which can lead them on the right track. Alternatively, the lambs can also try another way to achieve victory and find the keys to the gate, which will allow them to escape from the location.
We must eliminate the murderer when we discover their identity, sparing ourselves the debate and voting on his fate. Both wolves and lambs are given access to a rich arsenal that includes firearms and melee weapons, as well as traps and poisons.
They also have useful equipment in the form of armors and gas masks on their forearms. The skills, which vary depending on which of the available characters we decide to embody, also remain significant.
We can play Killer Inn in an asymmetrical multiplayer mode over the Internet for up to 24 people. The game allows us to play alone or team up and communicate with other players through voice chat. Given that chat feature takes into the distance separating the interlocutors, we can, for example, lock ourselves in one of the rooms to discuss tactics in solitude.
