Zumba Fitness Video Game Series
Based on the popular workout regime, a series of rhythm games developed by Pipeworks Software studio for s of consoles with motion controllers (e.g. Wii Remote, Kinect, PlayStation Move).
The first game in the series Zumba Fitness was released in 2010. The title, available in versions for Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, reached total sales of more than 9 million copies. Encouraged by the success, the developers prepared three sequels - Zumba Fitness 2 and Zumba Fitness: Rush and Zumba Fitness: Core, which, despite relatively good reviews from critics, were met with far less interest from players. A new chapter in the history of the series was opened by the game Zumba Fitness World Party, bridging the gap between seventh (Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360) and eighth-generation (Wii U, Xbox One) platforms.
The series Zumba Fitness is based on the principles of the Zumba training program, developed in the 1990s by Colombian choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez. It combines elements of aerobics and Latin American dances. Players are tasked with performing simple movement exercises to the rhythm of popular music hits. You can train alone or in the company of others.
On the technical side, the series Zumba Fitness is based on the use of the capabilities of modern motion controllers, which can analyze the movement of players in space and, on this basis, determine the correctness of performing individual exercises. The intensity of the effort can usually be dosed accordingly to the set goals, and the trainees have access to an extensive system of statistics.
An important element of the games in the series Zumba Fitness is the soundtrack, which usually consists of dozens of pop and dance music hits. Typically, players can choose from several variants of virtual settings in which instructors are shown.
