Getting a little tired of cat protagonists in Stray and Little Kitty Big City? This game introduces a new fearless animal ready to win our hearts
Digging, smashing, and saving friends in boar style. Wild Terrain is an game where we put our tusk power to the test and feast on all the mushrooms we can find.

Indie devs keep coming up with crazier ideas. They're either exploring new, uncharted paths by bringing back classic games with a modern spin. Sometimes, though, they just go for that simple, goofy adventure game led by an animal. That brings me to my latest Steam discovery – one I just had to check out after seeing the screenshots.
Boar to be wild
In Wild Terrain we play as a boar on a mission to track down our mysteriously missing friends… and, of course, cause some mayhem along the way. We need strength and wit to rescue them from all sorts of silly, bizarre, and even dangerous situations. And, like any true wild pig, we’re fast, tough, a bit stubborn, and totally relentless when it comes to saving our furry pals!
I just hope all my missing friends can hang in there while I test my tusks on every breakable object in sight. Oh, and that pineapple headgear? Definitely not the only stylish option here. We can deck ourselves out with all kinds of hats, which actually affect our temperature – so I’m guessing we’ll need some solid protection for that winter biome. A shroomy warm beanie should keep us from turning into a boar-sicle!
Speaking of mushrooms, there will be plenty of other food to scavenge here. I just hope we don’t cross paths with any Mushroom Season players. And if all else fails, well… there’s always the gourmet selection waiting in the trash. That’s an instant wishlist from me!
I’m always down for an animal protagonist – whether it’s a quirky insect in Endling. But I never expected to be this excited about the chance to dig through dirt as a boar.
